How two friends are changing lives one step at a time with 'Girltrek'
We are 1-Million strong because of friends like you! After enjoying all the wonderful milestones achieved this season, the GirlTrek National Team will be signing off to spend the next couple months recouping, enjoying time with family and friends, and engaging in self-care activities to feed the body, mind, and spirit.
As a reminder, our offices will be closed starting December 1, 2022 through January 17, 2023. We will return in on MLK day in January and begin planning another year focused on the Joy and Justice of Black women worldwide.
We understand that you may have questions while we are out. We got you!
Check out our Top 10 Off-Season FAQ’s:
1. WHAT IS THE GIRLTREK OFF-SEASON?
Each year, starting December 1st, GirlTrek’s National Staff, our Coaching Corps and our volunteer Crew Leaders, take a Self-Care break for six weeks. We use this time to reflect, renew, and refuel for the upcoming GirlTrek walking season. Our offices are closed and official GirlTrek walks hosted by coaches will return in the Spring of 2023.
Morgan, Vanessa, and the entire National Staff are committed to doing the personal work of healing and being an example of what it looks like to model self-care. We will increase our capacity to serve by first pouring into ourselves during our annual off-season break.
During off-season, we encourage our Coaches and Crew Leaders to rest their body and mind by taking an intentional break from organizing. This doesn’t mean stop walking. Continue to honor your pledge to walk in the direction of your healthiest and most fulfilled life, to practice radical self-care, and to do all those things that bring you joy!
2. WILL THERE BE ANY OFFICIAL GIRLTREK WALKS POSTED ON THE GIRLTREK MAP?
Although we will be entering the GirlTrek Off-Season, we encourage you to continue walking. Walking is a lifestyle and we want you to continue to practice radical self-care, and to do all those things that bring you joy! Feel free to walk with your sisters and friends, however it is recommended that you be intentional with this off season. Our Regional, State and Special Impact Coaches will not be posting walks to the GirlTrek National Map during the Off Season.
3. HOW DO I CONNECT WITH THE GIRLTREK SISTERHOOD IN MY AREA DURING THE GIRLTREK OFF-SEASON?
Please visit GirlTrek.org, click Connect To The Movement to connect with the GirlTrek sisterhood and city nearest you. Don't worry if you do not see your exact city. Our "City" pages actually act as our "State" hubs, so join the one nearest you to connect with sisters in your area.
