Summer of Radical Welcome | Host a Welcome Walk in Your Neighborhood!

This Summer, GirlTrek - the largest national health movement for Black women and girls, is hosting Welcome Walks in your neighborhoods across the country! As Black women, we frequently find ourselves in spaces where we aren't free to show up as our authentic selves, and GirlTrek is here to provide a place for our lights to shine brightly like the diamonds we are. Therefore, we are creating safe and soft spaces where Black women feel loved and cared for.

1.  What are Welcome Walks?

Every 3rd Saturday of the month from July - September, GirlTrek will be hosting Welcome Walks in 1000 Black Neighborhoods. In a world that often makes us feel unwelcome and isolated, we are declaring that Black women are welcomed here. By hosting your own Welcome Walk, you are 1 of 1000 women. You are being a sister’s keeper and making sure that the women in your community feel seen and supported.

3.  Where do I put a pin/walk on the map?

It’s easy! Click HERE or go to https://www.girltrek.org/map/ and click HOST A WELCOME WALK.

4.  How to Edit or Update Walk?

Click HERE to edit or make updates to your Welcome Walk.

5.  Do I have to host a walk on Saturday, July 15th?

While most walks will happen on Sisterhood Saturday, July 15th, we understand if you need to make your walk flexible according to your schedule. Feel free to host a walk on the day that works best for you.

6.  Does my walk have to be public or can I make it private?

No, your walk does not have to be public. When creating your link on mobilize, you may select the option for your walk to be private.
